The Wines

1. 2014 Nals Margreid “Punggl” Pinot Grigio (Alto Adige, Italy) – From one of the finest cooperatives in Northeastern Italy, this is one of the best Pinot Grigios we’ve ever tasted.  It comes from a single parcel of vines that are over 80 years old and fermentation takes place in stainless steel.  The resulting wine is full bodied, rich, and beautifully textured with flavors and aromas of white peach, pear, golden apple, spice and mineral.  If you are still convinced that Santa Margherita is the best Pinot Grigio out there, come taste this!
Tasting Price: $17.99 in mixed 3-packs | $16.99 in mixed six packs | $15.99 in mixed cases

2. 2014 Tenuta Sant’Antonio Scaia Bianco  (Veneto, Italy) – This is one of the most exotic, under $15 bottles of white wine in the store.  A blend of Garganega, Chardonnay and Trebbiano Soave, it is a “Super Soave” of sorts.  Loaded with pungent passionfruit, pink grapefruit, lemongrass, and green herb notes, this full bodied white wine is always a crowd pleaser.
Tasting Price: $11.69 on mixed 3-packs | $11.04 on mixed 6-packs | $10.39 on mixed cases

3. 2013 Tenuta Sant’Antonio Scaia Rosso (Veneto, Italy) – Good luck finding a better Italian red wine value than this one!  Composed entirely of Corvina, the grape that typically forms the basis of Valpolicella, it is a great red wine options for pretty much any sort of meal or gathering.  Monica Larner of The Wine Advocate says: “This is the ultimate downtime wine. The fruit is fresh and bright with white cherry, cassis, sweet almond and freshly milled white pepper.”  Yep, she nailed it!
Tasting Price: $11.69 on mixed 3-packs | $11.04 on mixed 6-packs | $10.39 on mixed cases

4. 2013 Aia Vecchia Lagone Rosso (Tuscany, Italy) – Have we found the best Super Tuscan value?  Maybe, but you’ll have to be the judge!  From Italy’s coastal Maremma region, this one is a blend of Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc that spent 12 months aging in French barrique.  James Suckling gave it 92 points and we agree with his assesment — full bodied, packed with ripe fruit and oak spice notes, this could easily sell for $25+ per bottle.
Tasting Price: $15.29 on mixed 3-packs | $14.44 on mixed 6-packs | $13.59 on mixed cases
