Top Italian Wine Values – Try Three For Free Wine Tasting

Saturday, August 5 from 2-5 p.m. – Stop by Table Wine this Saturday to sample some top Italian wine values. Taste Italy’s first DOCG wine along with a couple of rich and hearty reds. It’s Asheville’s best free wine tasting and you don’t want to miss it!

Fans of hand-crafted, small production, delicious Italian wines, this is your tasting!  Why?  Because we’re pulling the corks on some awesome new arrivals.  Up first, it’s the brilliant Cesani Vernaccia and it’s in fine form this year.  This delicate, yet flavorful, certified organic white wine displays lovely notes of white peach, apple, and almond.  Up next, Maurizio Marchetti’s Rosso Conero is one of our favorite new Italian reds.  100% Montepulciano from Italy’s Adriatic coast, this one is rich, full flavored, and finely balanced.  To finish, the new vintage of Mauro Brunelli’s Poggio Apricale is really shining this year.  Mainly younger vine Sangiovese Grosso from Brunelli’s vineyards in Montalcino, the wine isn’t aged long enough to be designated as Brunello or Rosso di Montalcino.  Nevertheless, it exhibits classy notes of ripe black cherry, exotic spice and herb.  At less than $20/bottle, you’ll be hard pressed to find a better bottle of Tuscan wine.  Stop by, taste the wines, learn something new, and save big every Saturday at Table Wine!

All of the featured tasting wines are on sale the day of the tasting: take 10% off if you mix any 3, 15% off if you mix any 6, or 20% off if you mix any 12.

1. 2015 Cesani Vernaccia di San Gimignano (Tuscany, Italy) – Many don’t know that Italy’s first DOCG was not Chianti, not Barolo, and not Brunello.  It was Vernaccia!  This crisp and refreshing white wine is absolutely delightful.  Clean, un-oaked, and zippy, try it with your favorite fish or seafood preparation.

2. 2016 Marchetti Rosso Conero “Castro di San Silvestro” (Marche, Italy) – Maurizio Marchetti makes a very macho-styled Montepulciano!  Yep, this one is dark, full bodied, and full of classic varietal flavor.  Bursting with notes of dark cherry, plum and spice, it is perfectly delicious without food, but very enjoyable with grilled sausages or other meats.  It’s a very fine bottle of wine at a great price.

3. 2016 Brunelli Poggio Apricale (Tuscany, Italy) – If you’re looking for Brunell0-like style for less than $20, Brunelli’s Poggio Apricale is your new best friend.  A testament to the fact that Tuscan Sangiovese is the best in the world, this offers up a ton of deliciousness for a very fair price.
