Free Saturday Wine Tasting: Classic French Country Wines

This Saturday, March 22nd from 2 to 5 p.m. — Free to the public — Join us this and every Saturday for one of Asheville’s best free wine weekly wine tastings!  This week, we’re “going down to the country” and we’re not talking about the famous Canned Heat song. We’re talking about Southern France, the Languedoc/Roussillon to be exact, where many of France’s most honest and affordable wines come from. Land is still quite a bit cheaper down here than it is in Bordeaux, Burgundy and the Rhone, so the prices on many of the wines from these parts make them perfect “Tuesday Night Wines.”  Come and see and taste for yourself this Saturday.

First up is an obscure, but simply delicious white wine that offers up juicy apple and citrus notes and tastes incredibly good with fresh spring fare. Spring is on the way folks……….I promise!  After that, we’ll pour you a couple of wines from the region of Minervois, one of the region’s most famous.  The first one is mainly Grenache, and it offers up lots of red fruit and white pepper aromas and flavors.  We’ll follow that up with a wine that is mainly Syrah, and it is packed with darker berry notes and a touch of black pepper.  The theme tying everything together here is that all of the wines are less than $15 a bottle and they’re all super!  Stop by, taste, learn and save with us this Saturday.
