The Wines
(Prices range from $10 to $26)

1. 2013 Cave de Pomerols Picpoul de Pinet (Languedoc, France) – Often referred to as the “Muscadet of Southern France,” the Picpoul grape produces a light, dry,and zesty white wine marked by lime, green apple, herb and mineral. It is a super refreshing white to consume poolside on warm summer days…..and those are right around the corner.

2. 2013 Domaine des Cassagnoles Gros Manseng (Gascogne, France) – For less than $15, this wine earns major points for being one of the most exotic and most interesting in the store. From older Gros Manseng vines, this offers up lovely notes of white peach, grilled pineapple, white currant and honeysuckle/floral goodness.

3. 2013 Les Aphillanthes Cotes du Rhone Rosé (Rhone Valley, France) – From a small, biodynamic/organic farm in the Southern Rhone, this is one of Josh’s favorite dry rosés of the vintage. Primarily Cinsault, with smaller doses of Grenache and Syrah, it displays lovely notes of fresh strawberry, watermelon, red currant, and just a touch of spice.

4. 2012 Domaine du Vissoux Beaujolais Vieilles Vignes “Cuvée Traditionelle (Beaujolais, France) – Pierre and Marie Chermette make some of the most lipsmackingly good Beaujolais on the planet and this is no exception. Bursting with juicy red fruits, a hint of earth, some spice and virtually no tannin, this is a delightful, warm weather red. Try it with grilled salmon!

5. 2010 Chateau Beauséjour Pentimento Montagne-St. Emilion (Bordeaux, France) – We’ll end the tasting on a “BIG” note with a lovely, Right Bank Bordeaux that is composed of 75% Merlot and 25% Cabernet Franc. The average age of vines is 55 years, and the wine is aged in fine French oak for 9 months. The end result is a big, ripe, polished and structured wine boasting aromas and flavors of black cherry, cassis, plum, mineral and oak spice.
