Friday Wine Down - Asheville Wine Lovers Unite

Friday, March 14, 2013 from 4 to 7 p.m. — $5/person…..Free for Grape Nuts — Join us this and every Friday for a Friday Wine Down; that’s fancy talk for a wine tasting! This week, we present to you a new batch of delicious Italian wines from various parts of the country. With somewhere in the neighborhood of 3,000 grapes planted in the country, one could spend an entire lifetime studying Italian wine. Start your studies by coming by this Friday to taste five distinctly delicious wines from a diversity of Italian regions.

We’ll start with a new white from the Tezza family that is simply chuggable…..even better, it comes in a liter bottle and that gets you 33% more goodness than a regular 750 ml. bottle. After that, we’ll move on to a really unique and exotic white from the island of Sicily that delivers pretty peach, apricot and jasmine notes. Then it’s on to the reds! First up is the liter of red from the Tezza family, and it is begging for wood-fired pizza and warm spring days. After that, we’ll move on to a full bodied Corvina/Cabernet blend, also from the Tezza family of the Valpolicella region. Finally, we’ll finish up with a showstopping Chianti that is the stuff of legends. Join us each and ever Friday to taste and learn about wine one sip at a time!
