Stop by Table Wine Saturday to sample a trio of great value, 90+ point rated French wines from importer Eric Solomon! Saturday, January 14th from 2-5pm.
Importer Eric Solomon has a tremendous talent for finding delicious, value priced, pleasure-bent wines from Southern France. Year in and year out, his roster of small family producers turn out impeccable wines that are beloved by many. Join us Saturday as we treat you to 3 perfect reds for the cold, wintry weather of January. Up first, we’ll pour you a gorgeous Syrah-based red blend from the Roussillon in Southern France. Made by the talented Jean-Marc Lafage, it is ton of wine for the money. Next up and one of the all-time great values of Southern France is the new vintage from Chateau Pesquié. A blend of Grenache and Syrah from France’s Ventoux zone, it tastes like Chateauneuf du Pape but costs way less. To finish up, you’ll get to try the dramatically delicious new release of Kerbuccio from Chateau Saint-Roch. Yet another fabulous wine made by Jean-Marc Lafage in the hot new Maury Sec AOC, it combines the richness and opulence of Chateauneuf du Pape with the minerality and spice of Priorat. 1. 2014 Domaine Lafage Bastide Miraflors Vieilles Vignes (Roussillon, France) – A blend of 70% Syrah and 30% Grenache from organically farmed vineyards in French Catalonia, this is about as good as red wine can get for less than $15. “It is deep, ruby/plum/purple, with fresh notes of blackcurrants, plums, Provençal herbs as well as licorice. Deep, medium to full-bodied, with amazing fruit, the purity, authenticity and Mediterranean upbringing of this wine are obvious.” – Jeb Dunnuck – The Wine Advocate – 92 points

2. 2014 Chateau Pesquié Ventoux “Cuvée des Terrasses” (Southern Rhone Valley, France) – This well run family winery has been in the Eric Solomon portfolio since 1990……..that’s the year Eric started importing! The wine is a blend of 60% Grenache and 40% Syrah from older, organically farmed vineyards in the foothills of Mont Ventoux. “Always a terrific value, the 2014 Ventoux Terrasses is no exception and offers complex, classic southern Rhone notes of dried garrigue, pepper, spice-box, licorice and sweet cherry fruit.” – Jeb Dunnuck – The Wine Advocate – 91 points
Tasting Price: $15.29 on mixed 3-packs | $14.44 on mixed 6-packs | $13.59 on mixed cases
3. 2014 Chateau Saint-Roch Maury Sec “Kerbuccio” (Roussillon, France) – Jean-Marc Lafage grew up near the village of Maury, a rugged, sheltered and warm part of the Roussillon marked by its black schist soils. Lafage purchased this estate about 10 years ago and the quality of the wines skyrocketed. We turned many of our regulars on to the 2013 version of this wine, and we’re deeply impressed by the 2014. “A blend of 50% Syrah, 30% Mourvedre and 20% Carignan that was aged in 50% new demi-muids, the 2014 Kerbuccio Maury Sec has an inky color to go with lots of upfront black raspberry, cassis, licorice, wilder herbs and violet-like aromas and flavors.” – Jeb Dunnuck – The Wine Advocate – 93 points
Tasting Price: $17.99 on mixed 3-packs | $16.99 on mixed 6-packs | $15.99 on mixed cases
Special One Day Sale Price: $15.99/bottle if you buy a solid 6-pack
