Case of the Month – An amazing Chardonnay value from Southern France – For Table Wine regulars, you will remember the Domaine Brunet Pinot Noir, a previous Case of the Month selection and a huge success. The estate’s Chardonnay is brand new to the US market, and we are psyched to be the first retailer in the country to feature this wine. Trust us folks, this is an absurd value in high quality, beautifully balanced Chardonnay, and we challenge you to find a better version of this grape for this price. It’s the 2015 Domaine Brunet Chardonnay, and it’s our new Case of the Month. Here’s the deal:
2015 Domaine Brunet Chardonnay – On Sale Through Wednesday, September 21st
Regular Price: $11.99/bottle
Sale Price: $8.99/bottle on solid cases (over 20% off) or $9.59/bottle on solid 6-packs (20% off)
Domaine Brunet is located in France’s Limoux region, in the southern part of the country. Unlike many of the warmer, Mediterranean influenced wine zones of France’s Languedoc, Limoux enjoys a cooler, more Atlantic influenced climate that is perfectly suited for cultivating Chardonnay. In fact, most experts and insiders agree that this zone is the best spot in France to grow the grape outside of Burgundy.
We think the experts are right about that, but this doesn’t really remind us of French Chardonnay, it reminds us more of good Central Coast California Chardonnay! Fermented in a mix of oak (30%) and stainless steel (70%) with battonage (lees stirring), it pours a gorgeous, deep straw color and the bouquet is rich, yet fresh and inviting. The palate is rich, yet lively, with notes of tropical fruits (pineapple and tangerine), golden apple, white flowers, spice and a hint of spicy oak. Trust us, you will not find a better Chardonnay value anywhere in the market. Drink this delicious wine over the next couple of years as an aperitif or serve it with salmon or roast chicken to your guests — they will thank you.
There you go — really, really good French Chardonnay for as low as $8.99/bottle! I know some of you will be skeptical so I invite you to stop by the store this Friday, August 26th any time between 2:00 and 7:00 to sample it along with some other great value wines from Europe. Otherwise, stop by the store or email me at email@example.com and I’ll be glad to hold your wine for up to two weeks. Many thanks and happy drinking and eating in Asheville!
