Free Wine Tastings This Weekend

We are the only Asheville wine shop to offer two free wine tastings every week, and you’re invited to join us this Friday and Saturday to try before you buy.  This week-end, we’re celebrating the arrival of spring and warmer, sunnier weather with some perfect wines to enjoy while you’re grilling, chilling, or hosting spring parties.

The fun starts on Friday, and you can stop by any time between 4 and 7 p.m. and get your week-end off to a good start!  A new arrival and a perfect sunny day white, the 2013 Le Grand St. Vincent Touraine is 100% Sauvignon Blanc from France’s Loire Valley.  Bursting with fresh green apple, citrus, herb and mineral notes, it’s a great one for patio sipping or for serving with grilled shrimp, fish, and vegetables.  Next up, the non-vintage Roncier Rouge is a straight up table wine from the southern part of Burgundy.  Mostly Pinot Noir with maybe a splash of Gamay, this light, juicy, cherry and spice flavored wine would be perfect with spice rubbed, grilled chicken thighs.  Yum!  The last wine is the 2013 Georges Descombes Morgon, one of our featured/sales wines this week.  Click here to read more about this gorgeous, 91 point rated Beaujolais.

Here’s what we’re pouring on Friday.

We’ll be back in action on Saturday and you’re invited to stop by any time between 2 and 5 p.m. to try some more perfect spring wines.  First up, the 2013 Nals Margreid Pinot Grigio is in our opinion the best Pinot Grigio on the market for less than $15.  Moderately rich, round and full of ripe apple, pear, and tangerine fruit, this is going to go over extremely well with your spring party guests or with grilled salmon or halibut.  After that, the 2013 San Marzano Primitivo Il Pumo is a big, tooth staining red from Southern Italy.  With lots of ripe plum, dark cherry, and ample body and texture, this one is begging to be served with grilled meats or barbecue.  We’ll finish up with the 2013 San Marzano Malvasia Nera Falo, another full bodied, richly fruited, spicy effort from Puglia.  Like this producer’s Primitivo, this would be fantastic with grilled meats.

Last, but not least, our week-end wine tastings are not only fun and educational, they are also the perfect time to save on our featured tasting wines.  All tasting wines are 10% off by the bottles, 15% off if you mix any six of them, or 20% off if you mix any twelve or more of them.  Taste, learn, and save every week-end at Table Wine!
