Asheville’s Best Free Wine Tasting!
Italy is one of the world’s most famous and oldest wine producing countries, and Italian wines are know for their broad variety. Consistently the world’s largest wine producer by volume, there is certainly plenty of “plonky” Italian wine, but there are tons of great values as well. Trust me, we won’t pour you any plonk! Nope, we’ll pour a trio of great values from North, South, and Central Italy. Taste, learn, and save every Friday at Table Wine!
All of the featured tasting wines are 20% off by the bottle on tasting day only.
Can’t make it by, but want to take advantage of the savings? Call us at 828.505.8588 and we can run your card over the phone. All sales must be tendered by tasting day.
1. 2016 Mannara Grillo/Pinot Grigio (Sicily, Italy) – There’s nothing “serious” or intimidating about this Sicilian white. Instead, you get an easy-drinking and thirst-quenching white perfect for all situations. 80% Grillo and 20% Pinot Grigio, fermented entirely in stainless steel, it offers up fresh notes of citrus, apple, pear, and almond. Drink liberally poolside, at the beach, or on a picnic.
2. 2014 Bricco dei Tati Barbera (Piemonte, Italy) – This is the ideal hot weather red wine. 100% Barbera from organically-tended vineyards, this wine is made in a very natural fashion – native yeasts, zero oak, and just lightly fines and filtered. The result is a light, low tannin red wine that is fresh, red fruited, and joyful.
3. 2016 Caparzo Sangiovese (Tuscany, Italy) – One of the surest ways to find extreme value wines is to buy entry-level wines from famous producers. Caparzo makes epic Brunello di Montalcinos, but they also make this little number. 100% Sangiovese aged in older oak barrels for six months, this one smells and tastes of fresh blackberry, raspberry, spice, and eucalyptus. Keep some of this one on hand for the next time you make any sort of pasta/red sauce combination.
