Free Wine Tasting - Spanish Exploration

Saturday, May 3rd, 2014 from 2 to 5 p.m. — Free Wine Tasting — Stop by any time between 2 and 5 p.m. on Saturday for a free wine tasting that will knock your socks off! This week, we’ll be tasting and talking about some of our favorite new wines from Spain. All of them come from the portfolio of Andre Tamers, one of our go-to guys when it comes to Spanish wines. Based in Chapel Hill, we are blessed to have such a talented importer so close to us. His wines all come from small family estates practicing organic, biodynamic, and/or sustainable vineyard practices, and they are all delicious representations of Spanish wines.

We’ll start with the 2013 Ostatu Rioja Blanco, a lovely blend of old vine Viura (90%) and Malvasia (10%). Pulsing with aromas and flavors of creamy lemon, pear, apple, spices and flowers, this wine is dangerously drinkable! Next up, we’ll pour you the 2013 Luberri Rioja “Orlegi”, a light to medium bodied, fruit forward red wine that reminds us a bit of a really good Beaujolais. Bursting with fresh red berry fruit and gentle spice, this low tannin red is way too easy to drink. We’ll finish up with the 2012 Jean d’Anguera Altaroses, a 100% Garnatxa cuvée from older vineyards farmed using biodynamic and organic methods. It is a very expressive, sumptuous red wine that is just bursting with ripe strawberry, raspberry, cherry and white pepper spice. We could drink this all day! Stop by, taste, learn, and save every Saturday at our free wine tasting.
