There is some super cool wine stuff going on in the wine producing countries of the Southern Hemisphere. Producers are not afraid to break rules and experiment with new techniques in the vineyards or the cellars. And the wines are better and more interesting than ever. Join us to taste a New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc that tastes like it came straight outta’ Graves, in Bordeaux. And follow that up with a South African red blend that tastes like a Chinon with more ripe fruit. Lastly, we’ll come back to earth with a classic, earthy, minty Chilean Cabernet Sauvignon that is all class and balance. Sound good? All you have to do is stop by, taste, learn, and save every Friday at Table Wine.

All of the featured tasting wines are 20% off by the bottle on tasting day only.

1. 2015 Spy Valley Envoy “Johnson Vineyard” Sauvignon Blanc (Marlborough, New Zealand) – I love barrel-fermented, White Bordeaux, and this is a dead ringer! Fermented and aged in French oak for 10 months, this is a richer fruited, more complex version of Kiwi Sauvie. Look for notes of white peach, carmelized grapefruit, baking spices and more. 92 points Wine Advocate

2. 2015 Raats Family Wines Red Jasper Red Blend (Stellenbosch, South Africa) – Bruwer Raats works magic with Cabernet Franc from his family’s vineyards in the heart of Stellenbosch. His Red Jasper combines 48% Cab Franc with 36% Malbec along with bits and pieces of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Petit Verdot. Tasting like a “Chinon with a suntan,” this stunning red wine is deep, complex, elegant, and fresh. And at less than $20, it’s pretty hard to beat. 92 points Wine Advocate

3. 2015 Cousino Macul Cabernet Sauvignon Dama de Plata (Maipo Valley, Chile) – Cousino Macul is one of the grand old estates of Chile. And despite being old, their wines have not become outdated. The proof is in this wine! Boasting a classic Chilean Cab nose of black fruits, sandalwood, and eucalyptus, this medium-bodied, balanced Cab is a ton of wine for the money.
