Saturday, November 3rd from 2-5pm – It’s Asheville’s best free wine tasting! Join us to sample a trio of phenomenal French wines from the Rhone, Beuajolais, and the Roussillon.

Asheville’s Best Free Wine Tasting – Just stop by – we’ve got plenty of free parking!

When it comes to French wines, I’m all about the classics. I’m talking about Cotes du Rhone, Fleurie, and Cotes du Roussillon — these are regions where wines have been made for hundreds of years. I just can’t get enough of wines like these, and I’m proud of the selections available at the store. Being that we focus on small growers and producers, this tasting will only include wines from small, family owned and operated estates. That means the wines come from folks who maintain quality-control from the vineyard to the bottle. Stop by, taste the difference, stock up, and save big.

All of the featured tasting wines are 20% off by the bottle on tasting day only.

1. 2017 Chateau Pegau Cotes du Rhone Blanc “Cuvee Lone” (Rhone Valley, France) – This Chateauneuf du Pape stalwart makes more than just big, sturdy reds. They also make lovely whites from their estate just 4 miles southeast of Avignon. This one is based on a blend of Clairette, Bourbolenc, Grenache Blanc and Ugni Blanc from vines averaging 35-60 years of age. Drinking like a White Chateauneuf in many ways, it offers up sensual and textured notes of white peach, melon, grilled pear, and herb and spice. 92 points James Suckling

2. 2017 Clos de la Roilette Fleurie (Beaujolais, France) – Alain Coudert produces some of the finest Fleurie on the planet. Originally classified as Moulin-a-Vent, his old vines yield a more powerful, structured, and savory wine. The 2017 is gorgeous with a core of raspberry and cherry fruit, along with more complex notes of earth, violet, spice, and leather. Although delicious now, this one really evolves nicely with 3 to 5 years in the cellar.

3. 2017 Domaine Cabirau Cotes du Roussillon Rouge (Roussillon, France) – For fans of richly fruited, spicy, Southern French reds, you’re going to love this one. A blend of old vine Grenache, Carignan and Syrah, all fermented in tank, it’s fabulous. “Its deep purple, opaque color is followed by a beautiful bouquet of blackberry and blueberry fruit as well as plenty of violets and incense. It’s medium to full-bodied, ripe, sexy, and voluptuous on the palate, with terrific purity.” 92 points Jeb Dunnuck
