Free Wine Tasting: French Country Wines

This Saturday, May 31st, 2014 from 2 to 5 p.m. — Stop by the store every Saturday any time between 2 and 5 p.m. for a free and educational wine tasting. This Saturday, we’ll be tasting out some new French country wines.

What’s country wine you ask? These are simple, delicious and affordable wines produced by simple, earthy farmers, typically in the southern part of France. They’re all new, they’re all great, and you should stop by to taste and stock up. First up, the 2013 Le Campuget Blanc combines Grenache Blanc and Viognier to create a dry, peachy, easy drinking wine for all sorts of warm weather occasions. The 2013 St. Hilaire d’Ozilhan Cotes du Rhone Blanc “Prestige” is an absolute knockout and an incredible value. A blend of Grenache Blanc, Viognier, Clairette and Bourbolenc, this dry, juicy, nicely textured white wine offers up gorgeous notes of fresh peach, tropical fruits and honeysuckle. Let’s just call it “Sunshine in a Bottle.” We’ll finish up with the 2013 Cave des Vignerons Jean de Roze Rouge, a blend of Syrah, Grenache and Carignan. With notes of ripe berries and peppery spice, this smooth and luscious red wine is just plain good. Stop by, taste some wine, increase your understanding of it, and save some serious bucks on it. Remember, all tasting wines are 10% off by the bottle, 15% off if you mix any six of them, and 20% off if you mix any twelve of them.
