Free wine tasting at Table Wine in South Asheville, North Carolina.

Free Saturday Wine Tasting - Saturday, February 16 - 2:00 to 5:00

Join us this Saturday and every Saturday from 2:00 to 5:00 to taste and learn about wine in a fun, educational and unpretentious setting. Jeb Boyd from Tryon Distributing will be manning the bar this Saturday, and his wine knowledge base is encyclopedic. He’s also a good friend!

He’ll be pouring a crunchy, crispy Chardonnay from France’s Loire Valley, an incredible Pinot Gris from California’s top producer of the grape and 2 behemoth Pinots made by Joe Wagner. (Joe is the son of Chuck Wagner, proprietor at Caymus)

The Wines
Prices range from $14 to $40

1. 2010 Eric Chevalier Chardonnay
Chardonnay from the Loire Valley? Yep, this one sees no oak and is full of bright citrus and orchard fruit notes along with that classic Loire Valley minerality.

2. 2011 Breggo Cellars Pinot Gris
From California’s Anderson Valley AVA, this is as good as California Pinot Gris gets. Just about 1,000 cases are produced and most of it is consumed in California. Dry, crisp, steely and loaded with Granny Smith apple, orange and floral notes.

3. 2011 Meiomi Pinot Noir
This stuff should be illegal! 92 points from Wine Spectator and under $20, it is a steal in high quality, classic California Pinot Noir.

4. 2011 Belle Glos Pinot Noir “Clark & Telephone Vineyard”
Hand’s down, one of the biggest, darkest Pinots I’ve ever seen or tasted. Lush, sexy and super smooth, with gobs of ripe dark cherry, raspberry and earthy undertones.
