Free on Fridays Wine Tasting – New Dry Rose Releases

Friday, February 24th from 4-7pm — Join us at the store (directions here) as we pour a glorious trio of new dry rose releases.  We’re kicking off Dry Rose Season 2017 and you’re all invited!

It’s the most wonderful time of the wine year!  The 2016 dry roses are beginning to arrive, and that means spring is just around the corner.  Stop by to sample of the early arrivals from some of our favorite producers.  We’ll start with a classic Provencal rose from Domaine Houchart — this is always one of the first to arrive and one of the first to disappear.  Get by and get some before it’s all gone.  Next up is the Domaine Lafage Miraflors Rose, our Wine of the Week and a candidate for best dry rose of the 2016 vintage.  As always, it comes in a beautiful bottle and the juice contained within is equally gorgeous.  To finish up, we’ll sample you on the limited production Rose from the fine folks at Banshee.  This year’s version is better than ever.  Stop by, taste, learn and save on some stunning dry roses to enjoy with the warmer weather.

Can’t make it by, but want to place an order?  Just email us at josh@tablewineasheville.com.

1. 2016 Domaine Houchart Cotes de Provence Rose (Provence, France) – Domaine Houchart is owned by Quiot family of Chateauneuf du Pape, and their dry rose is a prime example of Provencal rose.  A blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Grenache, Cinsault and Syrah, it is rich and almost creamy with notes of ripe raspberry, strawberry and cherry.  It finishes with a touch of “grapefruit zing” which keeps everything fresh and friendly.
Tasting Price: $12.59 on mixed 3-packs | $11.89 on mixed 6-packs | $11.19 on mixed cases

2. 2016 Domaine Lafage Miraflors Rose (Roussillon, France) – It’s our Wine of the Week, and it’s an absolutely stellar value in first class dry rose.  Jean-Marc Lafage crafts this one from blend of 80 year old Grenache Gris and younger vine Mourvedre.  The result is a wine flowing with ripe and creamy red fruits, white peach, and spring flowers.  Even better, it’s on sale!
Tasting Price: $16.19 on mixed 3-packs | $15.29 on mixed 6-packs | $14.39 on mixed cases
Special Wine of the Week Price: $15.99/bottle or $14.39/bottle on your solid 6-pack — on sale through March 9th

3. 2016 Banshee Rose (Mendocino County, California) – The team at Banshee have changed things up a bit on their rose.  It used to be all Pinot Noir from Sonoma, but they are now using a stunning, biodynamically farmed site in Mendocino County.  The blend is still led by Pinot Noir, but there are smaller portions of Grenache, Grenache Gris, Barbera and Syrah.  The resulting wine is one of the most complex and dazzling dry roses produced in California.  We only got 5 cases of this one this year, so come and get it before it’s gone.
Tasting Price: $19.79 on mixed 3-packs | $18.69 on mixed 6-packs | $17.59 on mixed cases
