Free On Fridays Wine Tasting - Great Value Italian Wines

Friday, January 20th from 4-7pm — Free on Fridays Wine Tasting featuring some incredible value Italian wines from the Haw River Wine Man!

When we’re looking for delicious and affordably priced wines from Italy, distributor and importer The Haw River Wine Man is our #1 source. Company owners Jim Stock and Mike Tiano attend Vinitaly (Italy’s largest wine exhibition) every year to taste through hundreds of different wines. We’d say their palates are aligned with ours as most of our under-$15 Italian wines come directly from them! Join us this Friday as we pour you some of our favorites. We’ll start with a fresh and fruity white blend from Sicily before we pour you a taste of our new Case of the Month Selection, an incredible Primitivo from Puglia. To finish, we’ll pour you a hearty and robust Barbera that will blow your mind! Stop by, taste, learn and save! Can’t make it by, but want to place an order? Just email us at josh@tablewineasheville.com.

1. 2015 Mannara Grillo/Pinot Grigio (Sicily) – You will be amazed at the quality of this incredible white wine value. From warm and sunny Sicily, you can almost taste the sunshine in this wine. Ripe apple, pear, citrus, and white floral notes abound in this delciously dry white.

2. 2014 Mannara Primitivo (Puglia) – It’s our Case of the Month, and it’s one of the best Italian red wine values we’ve ever encountered. Primitivo is the Italian name for Zinfandel, and the grape thrives in the warm and sunny condition of Puglia in the southern part of Italy. Ripe, soft and flowing with rich berry fruit, and hints of herbs and dark chocolate, this is perfect for everyday sipping or for serving with pizza or anything with red sauce.

3. 2013 Sant’ Evasio Barbera d’Asti Superiore (Piemonte) – Barbera specialist Sant’ Evasio has crafted a splendid wine here! With a little bit of age under its belt, this one is flowing with goodness. Medium bodied, laced with ripe black cherry, juniper berry and earthy complexity, it is a ton of wine for the money.
