With autumn and the leaf season upon us, it’s time to start thinking about earthy, sensual, complex Pinot Noir and roast chicken and root vegetables and……..I’ll stop there as I’m my mouth is already watering. Stop by, taste, learn, and save big on all of the tasting wines.

The Wines

1. 2014 Domaine de Colette Beaujolais-Villages (Beaujolais, France) – No, this isn’t Pinot Noir, but it is delicious 100%, small grower/producer Beaujolais. In case you didn’t know, Gamay is the grape of Beaujolais and it’s kind of like a cousin to Pinot Noir. Low in tannin, high in acidity and pure red fruit, and all about pure drinking pleasure, this is one of my favorites for everyday consumption.

2. NV Roncier Pinot Noir (Burgundy, France) – This rustic, country Pinot Noir comes from the southern part of Burgundy and it might contain a small amount of Gamay. At less than $11, it’s one of my all time favorite reds because it’s so honest and real. Bright and juicy with notes of fresh cherry and strawberry fruit along with subtle notions of forest floor and spice, it’s a delicious wine to drink on cooler fall nights.

3. 2012 Knez Pinot Noir (Anderson Valley, California) – It’s our Wine of the Week and it’s a masterpiece California Pinot Noir. From cool climate, higher elevation, hillside vineyards in California’s Anderson Valley, this one combines the rich fruit of the 2012 vintage with the classic mineral and earth complexity of Anderson Valley. At less than $30/bottle, it’s an incredible deal!
