Join us as give you the chance to sample some of our favorite versions of the grape this Friday. We’ll pour you a couple of great values along with one blockbuster, highly rated version from Jonata, Screaming Eagle’s sister winery. Trust us, you don’t want to miss this one! 1. 2014 Santa Luz Cabernet Sauvignon “Alba” (Central Valley, Chile) – This easy drinking, fruit forward red is the perfect “Cocktail Cabernet.” Not overly complex, heavy or tannic, it’s perfect with or without food. Bursting with juicy cherry, blackcurrant, and pepper notes, it finishes round, smooth, and velvety. Stock up on this one for everyday drinking and upcoming holiday parties.
2. 2014 Elsa Bianchi Cabernet Sauvignon (Mendoza, Argentina) – Argentinean Cabernets are better than ever and many of them could easily go toe to toe with versions from Napa and Sonoma. The big difference is price as the Argentinean Cabs cost a fraction of the price. Here’s a great version that doesn’t even come close to breaking the bank. With ripe dark fruits along with hints of black pepper, licorice, and mint, this moderately complex and structured Cabernet Sauvignon is a ton of wine for the money.
3. 2012 The Paring Red Wine (Central Coast, California): This is the California Cab that all of the wine critcs are talking about. The Wine Advocate called it “smokin’ good” and Antonio Galloni of Vinous Media said the “2012 Red Wine is easily one of the very best values readers will find in California.” A mix of 53% Cabernet Sauvignon, 24% Merlot, 16% Cabernet Franc and 7% Petit Verdot, this is really special stuff! 92 points Antonio Galloni (Vinous Media), 91 points Jeb Dunnuck (The Wine Advocate)
