Beaujolais Nouveau Tasting

Free on Fridays – Beaujolais Nouveau Tasting

Le Beaujolais Nouveau Est Arrivé!  Taste 3 of the finest from some of the top grower/producers in the region – Friday, November 20th from 4-7 p.m. – This year’s batch of Beaujolais Nouveaux will arrive at the store and be available for sale on Thursday, November 19th, and we’re excited to pop some bottles and share the new harvest wines with you this Friday from 4 to 7. Just in time for Thanksgiving, Beaujolais Nouveau is easy to drink, delicious, affordable and even better served next to turkey, ham, and all of the fixins’! Composed entirely of Gamay, these wines enjoy a speedy fermentation, are bottled, and then shipped to their destination to be sold the Thursday before Thanksgiving every year.

At Table Wine, our focus is always on wines from the best small growers and producers of the world, and we maintain that same philosophy with our Beaujolais Nouveaux selections.  It’s a fact that the best Beaujolais wines come from small, conscientious, artisan producers like Pierre and Marie Chermette and Jean-Paul Brun.  These farmers/producers take a more hands-on approach to the tending of their vineyards and the making of their wines, and you can taste it in the finished product.  Come and taste for yourself and get your holiday season off to a good start with a sampling of the first Beaujolais wines of the vintage.

The Wines
All wines will be discounted the day of the tasting.  Supplies are limited, so come by, taste, and stock up!

1.2015 Domaine du Vissoux Beaujolais “Pierre Chermette En Primeur”: Martine and Pierre Chermette farm their vineyards organically and with much care and precision.  Their yields are so low and the grapes so ripe that they don’t chapitalize (add sugar) like so many of the big producers do.  They also ferment with native yeasts and allow both of their Nouveaux to ferment longer and slower.  Finally, they bottle without filtration and with minute amounts of sulfur.  This attention to detail and commitment to traditional methodology shows in this light, pure and snappy red wine.
Tasting Price: $13.49 in mixed 3-packs | $12.74 in mixed 6-packs | $11.99 in mixed cases 2015

2. Domaine du Vissoux Beaujolais Vieilles Vignes “Pierre Chermette En Primeur”: The Chermette’s old vine Nouveau is made exactly like their entry level wine except that it sees brief again in neutral French oak. It possesses fruit that is just a shade darker and more pronounced spice and earth tones. Yet, it still maintains that beautiful freshness and charm that Nouveau is known for.
Tasting Price: $14.39 in mixed 3-packs | $13.59 in mixed 6-packs | $12.79 in mixed cases

3. 2015 Jean-Paul Brun Beaujolais Nouveau: Jean-Paul Brun works in the southern part of Beaujolais, and he is one of our favorite small growers of the region. Like the Chermettes, he farms organically, doesn’t chapitalize, and bottles with no filtration and minimal sulfur. The warmer southern part of Beaujolais yields a bigger, more structured style of Nouveau.  Let’s call it Beaujolais Nouveau on steroids.  Yum!
Tasting Price: $15.29 in mixed 3-packs | $14.44 in mixed 6-packs | $13.59 in mixed cases
