Free Mother's Day Wine Tasting

Free Mother's Day Wine Tasting

Saturday, May 12th from 2-5pm – Join us for a free Mother’s Day wine tasting this Saturday! We’re pulling the corks on some top-notch bottles, it’s the best free wine tasting in Asheville, and you’re invited. Just stop by — we’ve got plenty of free parking.

I hope you love your mom as much as I love mine! And what’s the best way to show and share and your love for dear old mom is to bring her to our wine tasting. We’ll have a trio of tasty whites, a staff and customer favorite rosé, and a serious red open for you to try before you buy. Grab mom and a friend and stop by to taste, learn, and save.

All of the featured tasting wines are 20% off on tasting day only!

1. 2015 Matthiasson Tendu White (Various Regions, California) – Steve Matthiasson is one of Napa’s top grape growers, but he’s also makes some incredibly tasty wines, including this one. Mainly Vermentino, with 20% Colombard and 5% Chardonnay, this is the perfect Mother’s Day and spring/summer white. Bottled conveniently in a liter bottle, you won’t believe how good this stuff is for the price. Bright, fresh, and aromatic, it’s just waiting for you to plan a picnic.

2. 2016 Huguet de Can Feixes Blanc Seleccio (Penedes, Spain) – This wine brings me back to my trip to Spain a couple of years back. The wife and I drank tons of whites like this one in Barcelona. This one blends Parellada and Macabeo, the same grapes used to make Cava, with smaller amounts of Chardonnay and Malvasia. Fermented without bubbles, the resulting wine is dry, super fresh, mineralic, and thirst-quenching.

3. 2016 Bodegas y Vinedos Attis Xion Albarino (Riax Baixas, Spain) – This is, without a doubt, the best Albarino in the store right now. There’s a magical interplay between rich tropical fruits and zesty, tooth-rattling citrus acidity. Talk about a great warm weather white for all sorts of occasions! And at just $15.99/bottle on tasting day, it can’t be beat for the price.

4. 2017 Commanderie de Peyrassol Cotes de Provence Rosé (Provence, France) – This is the quintessential Provencal rose! A blend of Cinsault, Grenache, and Syrah, it’s dry, it smells like a perfect spring day, and it goes down way too easy. Strawberry, cherry, watermelon, and herb notes come together to create the perfect flavor sensation.

5. 2015 Finca Villacreces Pruno (Ribera del Duero, Spain) – The new vintage of this perennial powerhouse, Spanish red is better than ever. A blend of 90% Tempranillo and 10% Cabernet Sauvignon, I’ll let wine writer and critic James Suckling describe it for you. “Very ripe, bright, black fruits and tar aromas pour from the glass. Big and juicy, but the tannins are stronger than the sweet stuff. Long, clean finish and a lot of potential.” – James Suckling – 92 points
