The Wines

1. 2014 Valle dell’Acate Case Ibidini Insolia (Sicily, Italy) – The lovely Gaetana Jacono is the sixth generation of her family to run this esteemed Sicilian estate. She works with indigenous varietals and farms organically to maintain tradition and to preserve the soils for future generations of her family. Insolia is native to Sicily and it yields a lovely, aromatic white wine with notes of lemony citrus, fennel, and mineral. Perfect for seafood or Mediterranean flavored fish dishes, this is a Table Wine favorite.

2. 2013 Vallevo Montepulciano d’Abruzzo (Abruzzo, Italy) – Cantina Frentana is a cooperative of close to 100 growers and their wines are consistently delicious and great values. Their Montepulciano is full of Italian heart and soul with earthy dark cherry, light spice, and medium tannin and acidity. It is the quintessential wine to enjoy with pizza or pasta with red sauce. It also a certified organic wine!

3. 2013 Verso Salento Rosso (Puglia, Italy) – It’s our new Wine of the Weeks and we’re glad it’s back! A blend of Negroamaro, Primitivo and Malvasia Nera made with some appassimento (dried or raisinated) grapes just like Amarone, this is a big red wine. Full bodied and mouth coating, but lush and seamless in texture, it shows off a nice mix of jammy dark fruits, exotic spices, and creamy chocolate notes. Don’t miss you chance to taste and save on this awesome wine!
