Euro-Zone Extreme Value Wines - Try Three For Free Wine Tasting

Saturday, July 8 from 2-5 p.m. – Make your Saturday great with a free wine tasting showcasing some extreme value wines from Europe. All 3 wines are new, they’re delicious, and they’re grossly under-priced.

The producers throughout the Euro-zone continue to put out the greatest wine values in the world, and I keep buying them! Join us as we pour you a trio of new, budget friendly wines from Spain and Austria. Up first, it’s a Sauvignon Blanc-like Verdejo-driven blend from Spain’s Telmo Rodriguez. Fresh and zesty, this is a great summertime wine. After that, it’s the dry rosé from Austria’s Anton Bauer — light, tart, refreshing and crisp, it’s really good this year. To finish, it’s a really special treat in the form of a pre-aged Ribera del Duero. Translated, it means you are going to get to try (and possibly buy) an eight year old Tempranillo that is in fine form. Oh yeah, it’s less than $15 too…….and we bought it all! Stop by, taste, learn and save big on all of the tasting wines.

All of the featured tasting wines are on sale the day of the tasting: take 10% off if you mix any 3, 15% off if you mix any 6, or 20% off if you mix any 12.

1. 2015 Telmo Rodriguez “Basa” Rueda Blanco (Rueda, Spain) – Rueda is located in the western part of Spain, and it has become a hub for fresh and zesty white wines based on the Verdejo grape. Telmo Rodriguez, one of Spain’s pioneering winemakers, blends 90% Verdejo with 10% Viura to create a lovely and refreshing white wine. Laced with notes of exotic tropical fruits, citrus, herb and mineral, it is a great alternative to Sauvignon Blanc.

2. 2016 Anton Bauer Rosé (Wagram, Austria) – Born in 1971, Anton Bauer is the fourth generation to manage his family’s 25 hectare vineyard and winery. His dry rosé is a blend of nearly equal parts Zweigelt, Merlot and Syrah and it is fermented in stainless steel. Dry, super crisp, and offering up flavors of tart cherry, cranberry, citrus, and white flowers, it is the perfect wine to beat the heat of summer.

3. 2009 Torrederos Ribera del Duero Roble (Ribera del Duero, Spain) – One of my distributor reps tasted me on this one a few weeks back and I bought all 20 cases he had to offer. Ever tried Tempranillo with 8 years of aged under its belt? Here’s your chance! Offering up savory and complex aromas of smoked meat, spice, leather and dried fruit, this one fleshes out on the palate with rounded and sweet dark fruit and lots of secondary complexity.
