1. 2015 Joao Portugal Ramon Alvarinho (Vinho Verde, Portugal) – Don’t get this confused with a simple Vinho Verde.  Yes, it’s from the same region, but this of a completely different breed!  100% Alvarinho from a single vineyard planted on rocky/granitic soils and seeing a touch of French oak, this is rich, exotic, spicy and creamy white wine.  I know that description sounds like Chardonnay, but it’s not like that either.  Come taste it!
Tasting Price: $17.99 on mixed 3-packs | $16.99 on mixed 6-packs | $15.99 on mixed cases

2. 2016 Ostatu Rosado (Rioja, Spain) – This is a perennial customer and staff favorite from one of our favorite Rioja producers.  The 2016 is again delicious!  A blend of 70% Tempranillo and 30% Garnacha from some of the estate’s oldest and highest elevation vineyards, it is fermented in stainless steel and bottled soon after.  Tart, crisp and laced with lime, white cherry, strawberry and floral notes, this is super refreshing and ideally served with a nice chill.
Tasting Price: $13.49 on mixed 3-packs | $12.74 on mixed 6-packs | $11.99 on mixed cases

3. 2011 Vina Bujanda Rioja Reserva (Rioja, Spain) – 100% Tempranillo from 30 year old vines planted in the Alta and Alavesa zones of Rioja.  The wine sees 20 months of oak aging (French and American oak) and 20 months of bottle aging before release.  The result is a savory and complex red that exhibits notes of spiced blueberries, leather, mocha, and cacao
Tasting Price: $17.99 on mixed 3-packs | $16.99 on mixed 6-packs | $15.99 on mixed cases

West Coast Wine Values wine tasting at Table Wine in Asheville, NC.

Try 3 For Free Wine Tasting – Top West Coast Wine Values

Saturday, March 4th from 2-5pm — Stop by the store (directions here) for a free wine tasting featuring some top West Coast wine values!  These are all great values from the start, but we’re running a one-day sale on all of them.  With the discounted pricing, we’re offering all of these wines at the best prices in the country!

It’s not hard to find inexpensive West Coast wines, but many of them are less than inspiring.  We dig a little bit deeper at Table Wine because uninspiring wine don’t do it for us or our customers.  Join us on Saturday to try some truly compelling West Coast wines that won’t break the bank.  Up first, it’s one of California’s top and most distinctive Sauvignon Blancs — tasting more like a creation of France’s Loire Valley, this is a staff and customer favorite.  Second in the lineup is an Oregon Pinot Gris from one of the state’s top up and comers — the wine sees a bit of skin contact and pours a slight pinkish/copper hue and offers up a more complex bouquet and palate than most Pinot Gris’.  Last, but not least, it’s good old Elk Cove Pinot Noir — we bought a little bit too much of their 2014, but no worries. This one is drinking like a dream right now and we’re offering it up at the best price in the country for one day only.

Can’t make it by, but want to place an order?  Just email us at josh@tablewineasheville.com.

1. 2015 Smith Story Wine Cellars Sauvignon Blanc (Sonoma County, California) – Alison Smith and Eric Story are the husband and wife team behind Smith Story Wine Cellars, and we firmly believe that they make one of the best Sauvignon Blancs in the state.  Zesty, crunchy, and laced with complex mineral notes, this is California Sauvignon Blanc meets Sancerre.

One Day Tasting Price: $15.99/bottle (20% off)

2. 2015 Omero Cellars Pinot Gris (Willamette Valley, Oregon) – Many of you love their Chardonnay…….wait until you taste their slightly pink Pinot Gris.  The brief skin to juice contact gives this wine a little more color than most Pinot Gris’ along with more complex, savory and umami notes.  A brilliant wine to serve with grilled salmon, sushi, or even ramen (real ramen), we also enjoy it without any food at all.
Regular Price: $23.99/bottle
One Day Tasting Price: $19.19/bottle (20% off)

3. 2014 Elk Cove Vineyards Pinot Noir (Willamette Valley, Oregon) – In case you haven’t heard, Vintage 2014 in Oregon was a great one — Wine Spectator scored the vintage 97 points!  When you add that to the fact that Elk Cove is one of the most respected veteran producers of the region, you have the formula for great wine.  This is classic Elk Cove Pinot — richer and fuller in style, but with silky tannin, it offers up an incredible mix of ripe cherry, blueberry and plum fruit buttressed by more complex notes of spice, cedar and black tea.  Perfect for drinking with grilled salmon, chicken or pork, it is also delicious with nothing more than a glass and a good friend.

Taste some sweeter wines at Table Wine in Asheville, NC.

Free on Fridays Wine Tasting – The Sweeter Side of Wine

Friday, February 10th from 4-7pm — Get your weekend off to a good start with Asheville’s best free wine tasting.  Join us as we delve into the sweeter side of wine.  Just because it’s sweet doesn’t mean it’s not good!

Some of the greatest wines in the world are sweet.  That is a fact!  German Riesling, French Sauternes, and Portuguese Port are some of the best wines and most long lived wines on the plantet, yet many wine drinkers find sweeter styled wines to be inferior.  Join us this Friday at Table Wine in South Asheville (click here for directions) for a sampling of some sweet, yet balanced wines.  To start, we’ll pour you a classically styled German Riesling that balances mild sweetness with searing acidity.  Up next, it’s our new Case of the Month Selection, a Sangiovese-based red blend from Tuscany.  It’s actually not sweet, but it is laced with super ripe and rich notes of red fruits (think cherry pie, raspberry jam, etc.) and spices — we suspect this will become a new customer favorite.  To finish, we’ll pour you a splash of Brachetto, a rare treat from Italy’s Piemonte region.  Stop by, taste with an open mind, learn and save big on all of the tasting wines.

Can’t make it by, but want to place an order?  Just email us at josh@tablewineasheville.com.

1. 2015 Urban “Nik Weis Selection” Riesling (Mosel, Germany): Nik Weis, the proprietor and winemaker at St. Urbanshof estate (one of the greats of the Mosel), makes this wine with fruit he purchases from friends and neighbors.  A perfect introduction to Mosel Riesling, this one balances sweetness with tartness, offering up lovely notes of mineral infused tangerine, grapefruit, and green apple.  90 points Wine Enthusiast
Tasting Price: $10.89 on mixed 3-packs | $10.19 on mixed 6-packs | $9.59 on mixed cases

2. 2015 Ser Passo Barbanera Toscana Rosso (Tuscany, Italy) – This is brand new to the United States, it’s our new Case of the Month, and it’s delicious!  There isn’t much information online for this one, but we know it’s mainly Sangiovese with smaller bits of Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot.  Like I said in the intro, this is not actually sweet, but it is sumptuous and super ripe.  For fans of lower tannin, bigger fruited wines, this is your new jam!
Tasting Price: $10.89 on mixed 3-packs | $10.19 on mixed 6-packs | $9.59 on mixed cases
Special Case of the Month Price: $9.49/bottle on your solid case — over 20% off!  On sale through Saturday, March 11th.

3. 2015 Cantina Sant’Evasio Brachetto d’Acqui (Piemonte, Italy) – Brachetto is one of Italy’s great dessert wines, and it is produced in Acqui in Italy’s Piemonte zone. Awarded DOCG status in 1996, it is absolutely delicious.  Low in alcohol, a bit fizzy, overtly sweet, and flowing with aromas and flavors of cherry, raspberry, strawberry and rose petal, this is one to stock up on for Valentine’s Day.  Try it with a plate of fresh fruit and some dark chocolate.
