Sunny Day Sippers Wine Tasting at Table Wine in Asheville, North Carolina

Sunny Day Sippers – Free on Fridays Wine Tasting

Friday, May 5th from 4-7pm – Get your weekend off to a good start with the best free wine tasting in Asheville.  We will pour you a tantalizing trio of sunny day sippers perfect for warm spring days, porch parties and cookouts.

I love warm, sunny spring days, and it’s one of my favorite times of year to enjoy wine.  I love sitting on my back porch on beautiful days, sipping on a light white or a refreshing rosé.  Equally, I love grilled foods (from steak and salmon to chicken and veggies) and I love enjoying a glass of wine while grilling as much as I do while eating the finished fare.  I’m sure you do too, and I invite you to stop by the store on Friday to try some of my favorite sunny day wines. We’ll start with a new wine from Italy’s Veneto region.  100% Pinot Grigio that saw a little bit of aging on the skins, it is light pink in color and brimming with zesty red fruits and citrus……..I call this one the perfect “porch pounder.”  After that it’s a rich, yet vibrant White Bordeaux from Clarence Dillon of Haut-Brion fame — trust me, you don’t want to miss one!  I had at it last weekend with a grilled vegetable medley and it was a perfect pairing.  To finish,  we’ll pour you a 93 point rated, certified biodynamic Pinot Noir from Austria.  Yes, Austria!  And it’s amazingly fresh, lively and buoyant……….perfect for grilled pork chops or chicken.  Darn it, I’m hungry now!  Stop by, taste, learn and save up to 20% off all of the tasting wines this Friday.  Can’t make it by, but want to place an order?  Just email me at josh@tablewineasheville.com.

The Wines
All of the featured tasting wines are on sale the day of the tasting: take 10% off if you mix any 3, 15% off if you mix any 6, or 20% off if you mix any 12.

1. 2016 Fornas Pinot Grigio Rosato (Veneto, Italy) – Talk about spring/summer refreshment!  Invite friends over, gather on porch, pour a round of this, and watch people’s faces light up.  This one is light, yet aromatic and flavorful with notes of watermelon, white peach, and mixed citrus fruits.  If hungry, serve this one with spicy marinated, grilled shrimp and/or veggies.
Tasting Price: $9.89 in mixed 3-packs | $9.34 in mixed six packs | $8.79 in mixed cases

2. 2015 Clarendelle Bordeaux Blanc (Bordeaux, France) – Clarendelle is the value-driven project of Clarence Dillon, owner of Bordeaux’ famed Chateau Haut-Brion.  Trust me, this isn’t some slacker side project using his famous name to sell wine………the wines are awesome.  The white is a blend of 49% Semillon, 45% Sauvignon Blanc, and 6% Muscadelle fermented entirely in stainless steel.  Luscious, rich and rounded on the one hand, it has great balancing acidity at the same time.  Really good stuff!
Tasting Price: $20.69 in mixed 3-packs | $19.54 in a mixed six pack | $18.39 in a mixed case

3. 2015 Meinklang Pinot Noir (Burgenland, Austria) – I love this wine!  It’s from a small husband and wife team in Eastern Austria.  They are certified biodynamic, they work their fannies off, and I’m so pleased that this vintage of their tiny production Pinot Noir garnered a 93 point score with Wine Enthusiast!  Medium bodied, super fresh, tangy, and alive with red fruit, earth, and spice notes, I could drink this all night with grilled pork chops, barbecued chicken legs/thighs, or even salmon or tuna.
Tasting Price: $17.99 in mixed 3-packs | $16.99 in a mixed six pack | $15.99 in a mixed case

Warm Weather Wines Tasting at Table Wine in Asheville, NC.

Wonderful Warm Weather Wines – Try 3 For Free Wine Tasting

Saturday, May 6 from 2-5pm – Join us to sample some great warm weather wines ideal for the spring and summer seasons.  Taste a white, a dry rosé, and a medium bodied red handpicked by Team Table Wine for your drinking pleasure!

There’s something about the spring that is just magical.  The flowers and trees are in full bloom, the landscape is green and full of life, and my wine preferences shift.  I tend to move from heavier, heartier foods and wines to fresher and livelier selections as the temperatures rise.  If you agree, stop by the store and let me share some of my favorite warm weather wines with you!  Up first, it’s a brand new Pinot Grigio from Argentina.  This one is rounder and more aromatic than most Pinot Grigio’s in this price range.  I think it would be great for sipping by the pool or on the beach or with richer seafood dishes.  Up next, it’s a new arrival dry rosé from Provence, and it’s a good one.  Flowing with gentle red fruits, ripe citrus, and mineral, I could drink this one liberally with any sort of grilled fish and/or vegetables.  To finish, it’s the new vintage of Barbera from Italy’s famed Vallana estate.  I love the purity and honesty of this medium bodied, slightly rustic red from one of the Piemonte’s greatest producers.  Enjoy it with just about any sort of meat off the grill.  I’ve done it again — writing up these tastings always makes me hungry!  Stop by on Saturday, taste, learn, and save big on all of the featured tasting wines.  Can’t make it by, but want to place an order?  Just email me at josh@tablewineasheville.com.

1. 2016 Vina Las Perdices Pinot Grigio (Mendoza, Argentina) – I’m always looking for good Pinot Grigio as it remains a go-to for many Table Wine customers.  I tasted this one recently with one of our favorite wine reps, and it floored me.  From Agrelo, a small village just south of Mendoza, this one bursts out of the glass with aromas of ripe citrus and white flowers.  Bring on the grilled salmon and green veggies!
Tasting Price: $12.59 in mixed 3-packs | $11.89 in mixed six packs | $11.19 in mixed cases

2. 2016 Les Hauts Plateaux Provence Rosé (Provence, France) – Talk about a great find in value priced, true Provencal rosé — this is it!  A blend of Syrah, Grenache, and Cinsault, I could drink this for hours on my back porch while reading, hanging with friends, or eating.  It’s just plain good.

The Wines

1. 2014 Hugel Gentil (Alsace, France) – This wine revives an ancient Alsace tradition where wines assembled from noble grape varieties were called “Gentil”.  The historic Hugel Estate keeps the exact blend a secret, but the wine is always based on Sylvaner, Pinot Blanc, Gewurztraminer, Pinot Gris and Riesling.  With amble body, ripe fruit, and a floral/spice combination, this is consistently one of the best Alsatian values out there.
Tasting Price: $13.49 in mixed 3-packs | $12.74 in mixed six packs | $11.99 in mixed cases

2. 2015 Domaine Houchart Cotes de Provence Rosé (Provence, France) – With more land under ownership than any other producer in Southern France, Jerome Quiot has a lot of options to choose from when assembling his wines.  His dry rosé combines Cabernet Sauvignon, Cinsault, Grenache and Syrah together to create a classic Provencal pink wine.  Bursting with notes of watermelon, strawberry, white peach and herbs, this is great for sunny spring days.
Tasting Price: $11.69 in mixed 3-packs | $11.04 in a mixed six pack | $10.39 in a mixed case

3. NV Carussin Completo (Piemonte, Italy) – This might be our top red wine pick for warm weather drinking.  Run by Bruna Ferra and her two sons Luca and Matteo, this tiny, certified organic and practicing biodyamic estate just south of Asti has produced a beautifully fresh, light and easy drinking red.  Even better, it comes in a liter bottle which gives you an extra 1/3 of a bottle.  A blend of primarily Barbera with small splashes of Grignolino, Freisa and Dolcetto, it registers at just 11.5% alcohol.  Chugalug!
Tasting Price: $17.99 in mixed 3-packs | $16.99 in a mixed six pack | $15.99 in a mixed case
