All of the featured tasting wines are being offered at 20% off by the bottle!  All sales must be tendered by the end of business on Friday unless other arrangements are made.  Email us at with questions.

1. 2016 Pine Ridge Chenin Blanc/Viognier (Various Regions, California) – What started out as an experiment 20 years ago, this is now considered one of California’s top white wine values.  80% Chenin Blanc from the Clarksburg AVA with 20% Viognier from Lodi, all stainless steel fermented.  Just off-dry, yet fresh, crisp and beautifully aromatic.
Special Tasting Price: $12.79/bottle

2. 2015 Ancient Peaks Zinfandel (Paso Robles, California) – This is just classic Paso Robles Zinfandel!  Made with fruit from Ancient Peaks’ estate Margarita Vineyard, on the cooler west side of Paso Robles, this one captures the essence of Zinfandel.  Aged 17 months in French and American oak, it offers up broad and plush flavors of brambly raspberry, dark cherry, spice and vanilla.
Special Tasting Price: $15.99/bottle

3. 2015 Ancient Peaks Cabernet Sauvignon (Paso Robles, California) – The warm days and cool nights that are common on the west side of Paso Robles are ideal for rich, yet balanced Cabernet Sauvignon.  This one lives up to that statement!  Aged 16 months in French and American oak, this one shows off classic Cabernet notes of dark berry fruit, cedar, anise and spice box.  Plush and smooth, it’s just as happy with a steak as it is without.
Special Tasting Price: $15.99/bottle

Wyatt Wine Tasting at Table Wine in Asheville, North Carolina.

California Values from Wyatt – Try Three For Free Wine Tasting

Saturday, September 9th from 2-5pm – Join us this Saturday for a free wine tasting featuring three incredible values from Wyatt.  It’s Asheville’s best free wine tasting, and you’re invited.  Stop on by!

As Robert Parker of the Wine Advocate said, “these wines show impeccable attention to detail and a thorough knowledge of some admirable fruit sources.”  Wyatt is the negociant project of New York-based wholesaler/importer Polaner Selections, and these are brand new to North Carolina.  As the Polaner website says, “To help create added quality and character for our Wyatt wines, we work with several winery partners in California who help us to create a base wine that is itself well about the fray. And then to these base wines, we add a good percentage of wine coming from small lots of a much higher pedigree and appellation. These are often declassified wines, usually aged in top-quality french oak barrels, that come from wineries that sell their wine at $30-$40-$50+ a bottle. The result: the combination creates an amazing value and lots of character for the money.”  Simply put, these are among the best California wine values this guy has ever tasted.  Stop by, check them out for yourself, and save big!

The Wines
Save big on all of the tasting wines!  Mix any 3 of them and save 10%, mix any 6 and save 15%, or mix any 12 and save 20%!

1. 2015 Wyatt Chardonnay (Various Regions, California) – When you look at the pedigree of the California producers that Polaner works with, it makes sense why this wine is so good. Fruit comes from sources in Napa Valley, Russian River, and the Central Coast, and the resulting wine is elegant, stylish, and way too good to cost less than $15/bottle.  Moderately rich with some toasty oak notes along with ripe orchard fruit and buttered citrus notes, it’s a ton of wine for the money.

2. 2015 Wyatt Pinot Noir (Various Regions, California) – Most of the grapes for the Wyatt Pinot Noir hail from the Central Coast (Santa Barbara, Santa Rita Hills) with a smaller portion coming from Carneros and Sonoma Coast sites.  The full fruited character of the Central Coast fruit melds beautifully with the spicy, earthier nuances of the Carneros and Sonoma Coast fruit to create an under-$20 Pinot Noir that is simply awesome.

3. 2015 Wyatt Cabernet Sauvignon (Various Regions, California) – Like Wyatt’s Chardonnay and Pinot Noir, the Cabernet over-delivers in a big way.  Fruit comes from prime Napa sites in Calistoga and Oakville along with a bit of stuff from the Santa Cruz Mountains.  The resulting wine is beautifully balanced, pure, and way better than any other under-$15 California Cab I’ve ever tasted.

Foxglove Wine Tasting at Table Wine in Asheville, North Carolina.

Insane Values from Foxglove – Free on Fridays Wine Tasting

Friday, July 7 from 4-7 p.m. – Stop by the store to sample the wines from Foxglove, California’s undisputed top value brand!  Trust me folks, it’s nearly impossible to find under-$20 California wines that “behave” like these.  Taste them and you’ll see what I’m talking about!

Brothers Jim and Bob Varner created the Foxglove line of wines to demonstrate that great California wines don’t have to cost a lot of money.  By sourcing fruit from vineyards throughout the Central Coast and using little or no new oak, they are able to produce pure, fruit driven, and delicious wines that sell for a song. Robert Parker says “(t)hese are absolutely spectacular bargains from the very high-quality Varner Winery in the Santa Cruz Mountains. This is their less expensive line-up of wines, and I encourage readers to try them – they are true winners.”  Join us as we try all three of their wines.  Stop by, taste, learn and save up to 20% off on all of the featured tasting wines.

All of the featured tasting wines are on sale the day of the tasting: take 10% off if you mix any 3, 15% off if you mix any 6, or 20% off if you mix any 12.

1. 2014 Foxglove Chardonnay (Central Coast, California) – This stainless steel fermented, non-malo Chardonnay is consistently one of California’s great white wine values.  Moderately rich, but light on its feet, it displays lovely notes of white peach, apple blossom, lemon oil, mint and subtle spice notes.
90 points Vinous Media, 90 points The Wine Advocate.
Tasting Price: $15.29 in mixed 3-packs | $14.44 in mixed 6-packs | $13.59 in mixed cases

2. 2015 Foxglove Cabernet Sauvignon (Paso Robles, California) – This one always hovers around the 90 point rating, and I personally think it’s deserving of that score.  100% Cabernet Sauvignon from 25 year old vines located in Paso Robles, it is fermented and aged entirely in stainless steel.  The resulting wine is pure and full flavored with notes of dark berries, mint, herb and spice.  89 points Vinous Media, 88 points The Wine Advocate.
Tasting Price: $15.29 in mixed 3-packs | $14.44 in mixed 6-packs | $13.59 in mixed cases

2. 2013 Foxglove Zinfandel (Paso Robles, California) – This is my personal favorite of the bunch as this Zin really shows old-school character and purity.  Like the Cab, it is from a 25 year old vineyard in the northern part of Paso Robles and it is fermented and aged entirely in stainless steel.  Lush, spicy, rich and easy drinking, this one coats the palate with flavors of briary red fruit, pepper, and spice.  88 points Vinous Media, 88 points The Wine Advocate.
Tasting Price: $15.29 in mixed 3-packs | $14.44 in mixed 6-packs | $13.59 in mixed cases

Free on Fridays Wine Tasting – Chateau Montelena Wine Tasting

Friday, April 21st from 4-7 pm – Yep, you read that right as we’re hosting a free Chateau Montelena Wine Tasting on Friday!  Truly one of California’s blue chip estates, we will pour you an all-star lineup of their current releases.  This guarantees to be the best free wine tasting in Asheville!

Founded in 1882, Chateau Montelena is one of California’s most historic and respected estates.  With 120 acres under vine, the winery produces about 50,000 cases of wine each year, and they make 7 different wines.  That’s really not a lot of wine!  Bo Barrett is still running the show here, and he continues to turn out great wines rooted in balance, class, and finesse.  Join us and see what we’re talking about.  We’ll start with their Dry Riesling, a 1,500 case production wine that is guaranteed to convert the most avid Riesling hater.  Up next, the estate’s Calistoga Zinfandel is just singing this vintage with bbq-friendly notes of briary fruit and peppery spice.  To finish, it’s the new vintage of Montelena’s Napa Valley Cabernet, and they knocked it out of the park this year.  What’s new?  Talk is cheap, let the wine do the talking and stop by to taste, learn and save this Friday at Table Wine.   Can’t make it by, but want to place an order?  Just email us at

1. 2015 Chateau Montelena Riesling  (Potter Valley, California) – We know, you hate Riesling because it’s so sweet and syrupy.  Wrong!  This one is completely dry and completely delicious.  In fact, it is actually sold out at the winery, but we’ve got a couple cases up for grabs.  Possessing bright acidity along with exotic tropical notes, this one makes us want for spicy Thai or Indian food.
Tasting Price: $22.49 in mixed 3-packs | $21.24 in mixed 6-packs | $19.99 mixed cases

2.2013 Chateau Montelena Zinfandel (Napa Valley, California) – Montelena’s Zinfandel is a rare Zinfandel treat.  As opposed to the extracted, jammy style often encountered, this one is balanced, medium bodied, and old school in style.  Briary red berries, earth, and spice all come out to play in this red wine that would pair nicely with a wide range of cuisines, from red sauced pasta dishes to smoked brisket.
Tasting Price: $35.99 in mixed 3-packs | $33.99 in mixed 6-packs | $31.99 in mixed case

3. 2013 Chateau Montelena Cabernet Sauvignon (Napa Valley, California) – Bo Barret’s Cabs are never the biggest or most extravagant, but they are always delicious, and this is no exception.  Mored medium bodied and seductive, it exhibits silky tannin and balanced acidity making it a perfect pair for a grilled steak.  Classic Napa Cabernet aromas and flavors of dark cherry, currant, tobacco, cedar, and licorice all make an appearance.  Drink now through 2025.
Tasting Price: $53.09 in mixed 3-packs | $50.14 in mixed 6-packs | $47.19 in mixed cases

Wine of the Week – 2013 McPrice Myers Right Hand Man

This is going to sell out quick………trust me!  The McPrice Myers Right Hand Man Syrah is rich, decadent and opulent and it costs less than $20.

I just got seven cases in, and I am taking a case home so that leaves me with six to sell.

McPrice Myers started making wine in California’s Central Coast in 2002.  In a very short period of time, founder and winemaker Mac Myers has established his winery as one of the rising stars of the region.  I tasted Mac’s Right Hand Man recently, and I agree with that assessment 100%.  I’m not going to beat around the bush on this one — this is easily one of the best under-$20 domestic Syrah’s I’ve ever tasted.

To make sure you get some of this one, please stop by the store or email me at  I’ll be glad to hold your wine through the end of the sale period.

McPrice Myers Right Hand Man Syrah 2014 — Sale $17.99/bottle — $15.99/bottle on solid 6-packs — 91 points Vinous Media — On sale through Friday, January 27th!

“Bright violet. Blueberry, cherry compote, dark chocolate and cracked pepper on the pungent, smoke-tinged nose. Smooth, palate-staining black and blue fruit and violet pastille flavors show excellent clarity and pick up a mineral element with air. The peppery note comes back strong on a very long, penetrating finish shaped by supple, even tannins.  Drink now through 2025.  $25 suggest retail.” – Vinous Media

Fruit is source from the west side of Paso Robles and Santa Barbara County for this wine.  Mac includes small bits (5% each) of Petite Sirah for color/pepper and Viognier for exotic aromatics.  After fermentation, the wine is aged for 22 months in 10% new French and American oak.  The resulting wine is a beauty! Deeply colored, almost opaque and exhibiting heady aromas and flavors of cassis, dark raspberry, dark cherry, smoky herb, bacon fat, and on and on.  This could easily compete with $40 to $50 Syrahs from anywhere in the world.

As I said before, with Table Wine offering this one up at pretty much the best price in the country, this will not last long.  Cheers and happy drinking in Asheville!

Grayson Cellars Chardonnay

Case of the Month – 2015 Grayson Cellars Chardonnay

The 2015 Grayson Cellars Chardonnay scored 98 points, beat out 300+ other Chardonnays, and was named Best in Class at this year’s California State Fair Wine Competition.  It beat out notables such as ZD, Grgich Hills, Talbott, Trefethen and a host of others.

Did I mention that it sells for less than $12 a bottle?  And for the next month, I’m dealing on this one – how does $9.49/bottle sound on your solid case?  Sound too good to be true?  Stop by the store and we’ll pour you some!

2015 Grayson Cellars Chardonnay – On sale through Wednesday, November 23rd

Regular Price: $11.99

Sale Price: $9.49/bottle on your solid case

For over 10 years now, Napa Valley’s Grayson Cellars has been producing some of our country’s greatest wine values.  I’m not the only one who thinks this.  Robert Parker of The Wine Advocate recently wrote, “It’s about time Grayson Cellars receives recognition for the extraordinary bargains it is creating. There is a lot of high quality fruit available for buying and turning into wine given the hard economic hit vineyards of California have absorbed, and Grayson Cellars appears to be exploiting that to their advantage as well as to that of consumers. Winemaker Larry Levin is doing some remarkable work here, turning out wines that defy belief given their price points. Kudos to him and the owner of Grayson Cellars.”

Yes, kudos to Larry Levin and Mike O’Connell as their 2015 Chardonnay is the best wine they have ever crafted………in my humble opinion of course.  I’ve liked previous vintages of this wine and I’ve liked their other varietal offerings, but the 2015 Chardonnay is just super.  I can totally understand why it wowed the judges at one of our country’s oldest and largest wine competitions.  It had the same effect on me.  100% Chardonnay fermented and aged in a combination of stainless steel and older French oak barrels, this one explodes out of the glass with perfectly ripened Chardonnay fruit – think golden apple, pear, mango, tangerine – but all of this rich fruit is balanced by lovely crisp acidity.  The wine finishes long with just a hint of vanilla and oak spice.

I taste a lot of Chardonnay, and I have to say that this one is the best under-$15 version I’ve ever tried from California.  Yep, that’s a bold statement, but I’m sticking with it!  With Thanksgiving and the holiday party season nearing, I can’t think of a better Chardonnay for the money to serve yourselves and your guests.  Perfect for sipping alongside poultry and lighter seafood dishes, it’s also absolutely perfect as an aperitif.  Stop by the store to pick some up or email at  Just let me know how much you would like me to set aside for you and I’ll take care of it.  Cheers and happy drinking and eating in Asheville!

2. 2012 Four Vines Zinfandel “Truant” (Various Regions, California) – The tag line at Four Vines is “Living in Zin,” and we would tend to agree that the team lives up to that philosophy.  Their entry level wine combines purchased fruit from a number of Zinfandel hotspots scattered throughout the state.  Aged for 12 months in oak, the resulting wine is juicy, spicy, and pleasure bent with notes of ripe berries, plum, vanilla and spice box.

3. 2014 Ancient Peaks Cabernet Sauvignon (Paso Robles, California) – Paso Robles is highly noted for their Zinfandels and Rhone-styled blends, but we think the vintners of the region deserve a lot more respect for the Cabernet Sauvignons that are coming out these days.  Here’s a prime example of why!  This is just stellar and classically styled Cab with notes of dark currant, dark cherry, cassis, and zesty herbal nuances.  With ample body and big flavor, but soft tannins and a supple mouthfeel, this is a great go-to red for cooler weather drinking.
Tasting Price: $17.99 on mixed 3-packs | $16.99 on mixed 6-packs | $15.99 on mixed cases

1. 2013 Ferrari-Carano Chardonnay Reserve (Carneros-Napa Valley, California) – For fans of rich, buttery, classy California Chardonnay, you’re going to want to try this. Founded in 1981 by Don and Rhonda Carano, this esteemed estate is based in Sonoma County and they own vineyards throughout the North Coast.  This wine is composed mainly of fruit from their Carneros vineyard and sees 16 months aging in French oak before bottling.  The resulting wine is full bodied, layered, pure and delicious.  91 points The Wine Advocate

2. 2014 Hahn Pinot Noir “SLH” (Santa Lucia Highlands, California) – Nicky Hahn was one of the first to suggest that the Santa Lucia Highlands be deemed a unique winegrowing district.  Today, he and his team farm some prime sites in this “Pinot Perfect” area of California.  The nearly perfect 2014 vintage resulted in a great crop of fully ripened Pinot Noir, and this is a wine that could easily pass for wines that cost twice the price.  Fuller bodied, silky smooth and laced with ripe red fruits, plum, and earth, this is a wondrous value.
92 points Wine Spectator
