Case of the Month - 2013 Coto de Hayas Garnacha/Syrah

SOLD OUT! You’re not going to find a red wine as good as this one at this price anywhere else……..we guarantee it!

Rated 89 points and a “Best Buy” by Wine Enthusiast, it is an absolute no-brainer if you like wines like Cotes du Rhone or Grenache/Garnacha. The 2013 Coto de Hayas Garnacha/Syrah is our new Case of the Month, and here’s the deal:

Coto de Hayas Garnacha/Syrah

2013 Coto de Hayas Garnacha/Syrah

Cotes-du-Rhone styled red from one of Spain's top value producers!

SOLD OUT

We tasted this wine just a couple of weeks ago, and we were absolutely blown away by the quality to price ratio. From the same producer that brings us the Don Ramon Tinto (a past Case of the Month success story), the wine comes from the higher altitude, wind swept vineyards of the Campo de Borja, in North-Central Spain. This area is known for producing some of Spain’s top red wine values, and most of these are based primarily on Garnacha which is believed to have originated in this region.

The 2013 Coto de Hayas Garnacha/Syrah is a 70/30 blend of the two grapes and is fermented entirely in stainless steel. Offering up a solid bouquet of ripe kirsch, raspberry, pepper, and cocoa, it smells a lot like a really good Cotes du Rhone from a warmer vintage. The palate is super smooth and rounded with almost no tannic edge, and the flavors are of ripe, balanced, and pure berry fruit and spice.

All in all, this would make a perfect daily drinker or party wine, but it’s “serious” enough to stand up to barbecued ribs or a good burger.
