1. 2015 Brunn Gruner Veltliner (Niederosterreich, Austria) – Gruner Veltliner is by far Austria’s most famous and important grape variety.  The grape can yield everything from light and crisp whites to fuller and more complex ones.  This liter bottled beauty is light and crisp, but assertively flavored with bright lemon, lime, and green apple aromas and flavors galore.  With some subtle floral notes and a just a whiff of wet rock (aka mineral), this is a ton of white wine for the money.
Tasting Price: $14.39/bottle | $13.59 in a mixed six pack | $12.79 in a mixed case

2. 2014 Tegernseerhof Gruner Veltliner Federspiel “T26” (Wachau, Austria) – Several years ago, importer Klaus Wittauer was sampling various tanks of Gruner Veltliner in the cellars of the Mittelbach family who own Tegernseerhof.  He was searching for a modestly priced Gruner that would serve as a great entry level wine, and when he got to one particular batch, he knew he’d found his wine and he bought the whole tank!  That’s a great story, but the wine is even better.  Intense and concentrated with vibrant citrus, exotic herbal notes, and peppery minerality, it is one of the best Gruner values coming out of Austria.
Tasting Price: $15.29 on mixed 3-packs | $14.44 on mixed 6-packs | $13.59 on mixed cases

3. 2014 Brunn Zweigelt (Niederosterreich, Austria) – As we said earlier, Zweigelt is a terrific alternative to Pinot Noir and Beaujolais.  One of Austria’s native red grapes, it yields wines that are light to medium bodied and fresh and fruit forward.  With soft tannin and refreshing acidity, this cherry/raspberry/peppery scented and flavored version is a great red for summer drinking.
